Hello.  I'm here to pick up my husband, Wilford Brimley.

Brimley?  You won't be picking him up without a shovel, I'm afraid.

What's that supposed to mean?

Didn't you hear?  He took a dive off a building and hit a wire mesh.  All the osseous parts of his body stayed atop, whilst the rest of him came out the other side in quarter-inch cubes.

But—but—  On the phone all you said was he strained himself!

Jonanthan, how was that comic awesome–some of the POS are, but that was just a pun on gruesome. Markham, I am eager for part III of the mosque article–you are a thoughtful and gifted writer.

Fern, some of the best literature and jokes are the simplest. The fact that it was a gruesome play on words *is* what made it awesome. It was done in just four frames, and with few words. The visual styling hinted and guided the mind without overwhelming it with actual gore. And for conveying the joke in few words, images, and panels it is an awesome joke.

To wit, it inspired awe in me – the definition of awesome – over Markham’s skill, imagination, and humor. To me it is awesome.

If you think it, merely a “pun on gruesome”; I suppose you are right. But what, Fern, does your refined palate consider awesome in the way of comics?

I do agree, more than you know, that Markham is a gifted writer. :-)
